I would tend, for the moment to ignore remote control via network - it only adds one more issue to the list to sort. What I really want is to be able to borrow an X32 so I can sort this at home! Anyone got one they could lend me for a week?Īssuming you can't pick up an x32 locally and ned to carry on: I've checked and re-checked settings, and I've just now uninstalled Reaper 64-bit and installed the 32-bit instead, in case that helps. An alternative program (nasty little nch MixPad program) saw the X32 signals, but Reaper didn't. But this time I was getting nothing at all coming through from the desk into reaper. Still not working right - some of the tips were really helpful - I moved from a wifi to a wired connection for the X32 remote program, and that helped a lot with stability. The BBC are now using Reaper for some of their live recording work so it is certainly up to the job.

Do a search for latency checking software which should show you if your computer has background processes running that could interrupt a live recording. The other thing to watch out for is to disable wifi - it will sometimes go off searching for networks and slow down the computer for a few seconds while it does this. I'd also suggest increasing the buffer size as low latency isn't needed for a typical live recording. Whenever I've done a live recording, I've always done a rehearsal first at home just to check that things work as expected. But once we were under way I couldn't do any of those things.ĭo you have an alternative audio interface that you can use at home? I'd just set Reaper recording as many tracks as you plan to use and see if the problem appears. First time it happened was before we got started, and I had time to re-install the X-UF driver, reboot the desk and the PC. So no recording, which means we need to plan another performance. The program was still responsive, but the recording wasn't progressing. Reaper seemed to 'lose' the X32, and would freeze. Then - more seriously - during the main performance, after 4'47" the recording just stopped.
